What to expect at your appointment
The first thing we’ll ask is whether or not you have any current eye or vision problems. We will ask you to describe your issues, how long you’ve had them, and what might have improved or worsened them. We will also review your history of glasses or contact lenses and also ask about any medicines you take and your family’s medical history. This conversation will give us a better understanding of your overall health. After that, we will analyse your visual acuity.
Comprehensive Eye Examination
How It Works
Using a Snellen Chart, you will be asked to read random letters that become smaller line by line as your eyes move down the chart. To test if you require glasses, we will place a series of lenses in front of your eye successively while asking when the letters on the chart become easier to read. This is called a refraction.
Other parts of your examination
-
We check to see if you have proper three-dimensional vision
-
We check your eye muscles
-
We examine your pupils to see if they respond properly to light
-
We inspect your retina, nearby blood vessels and optic nerves.
