You Had Your Vision Tested?
Most people don’t realise how important eyesight is until they start to lose it. Regular eye exams are one of the best ways to protect your vision. And, they’re not just for seniors. Everyone can benefit from having their eyes checked on a regular basis.
If you have a diagnosed eye condition, you may need to have your eyes tested more frequently. This is because certain conditions can cause changes in your vision that could affect your ability to see clearly. Changes to the health of your eyes can happen gradually and you may not have any symptoms at first, but over time, you may start to notice changes.
If you experience any sudden changes in your eyesight, be sure to see our eye doctors at Coady Davenport Optical right away.
Do You Know How
Healthy Your Eyes Are?
During your eye examination, we use a range of tests to assess your vision and eye health. These tests may include checking your visual acuity, measuring your intraocular pressure, and examining your retina and optic nerve. By performing these tests, our eye care professionals can determine if you need glasses or other corrective vision devices, and identify any other potential problems.
At a routine eye examination, our optometrists will;
- ask you about your eyes and vision, and your general health
- measure your ability to see at various distances (visual acuity)
- check how well you see colour
- monitor how your eyes react to light and movement
- measure the pressure inside your eyes
- examine the outer surface of your eyes with a powerful microscope (slit lamp).
You May Have An
Eye Disease And Not Know It
Early disease detection can lead to earlier treatment, which can improve your chances of a successful outcome. Early detection can also help you avoid more serious complications from disease.
Specialised eye exams can diagnose a variety of problems, including macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetes or high blood pressure. To determine the health of your eyes, our optometrists conduct the following tests;
- visual field test or perimetry – a check of your field of vision to detect areas of vision loss
- retinal imaging – a digital image of the back of your eyes
- optical coherence tomography (OCT) – a scan of the innermost area of your eye (retina).
